Do you have a Growth or Fixed Mindset?

Life is the most incredible journey, isn’t it?

Just when we think we have things all figured out - something happens to create a shift.

When I was 17 in my final year of high school, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was only 41. She was my best friend and the picture of health on the outside. My parents had just gone bankrupt and my mom was the one that had to deal with all the creditors for years leading up to that point. I believe the toll that took on her mentally and physically massively contributed to her cancer diagnosis so young.

At that moment, my life changed. I was the pillar of strength for my mom. She would wake up at 2 am in absolute fear at the sound of rain on the roof- it was my job to comfort her, stay awake and talk to her until she calmed down and was able to get back to sleep.

It was at that time that I started diving into reading any books I could about the power of the mind to heal, to overcome adversity and any challenge that anyone in my family, including me, was dealing with.

Without being fully aware of it back then… I embarked on a journey of building “a growth mindset”

A growth mindset is defined like this…

“Someone with a growth mindset views intelligence, abilities, and talents as learnable and capable of improvement through effort. On the other hand, someone with a fixed mindset views those same traits as inherently stable and unchangeable over time.”

Developing a growth mindset has meant, incorporating reading, listening to books on audio, and listening to podcasts EVERY SINGLE day. In addition to a healthy lifestyle, eating clean, working out and writing affirmations and daily goal setting - the personal growth you can do on the muscle that is the BRAIN can change your life more than ANYTHING!

We are all capable of doing amazing things but If we aren’t aware of our weaknesses or the things we need to do to CREATE that change we will remain stuck in the same thinking. If we remain stuck and nothing changes we will never challenge ourselves, stretch out of our comfort zone and develop new skills, awareness and understanding to develop the potential that lies within.

Human beings are actually hard-wired for change. We are hard-wired to grow and serve and connect and create meaning and purpose. Life is meant to be a journey of learning, self-awareness and growth.

Along my own personal growth journey, the greatest revelation was the sense of responsibility and self-awareness that could help improve my life and relationships. It meant letting go of trying to be “perfect” (that doesn’t exist anywhere) and embracing growth.

I know that without this commitment to growth and the journey I am on… I wouldn’t be the wife, mother, friend, or business coach I am today. I wouldn’t have been able to create the business and life of my dreams without embracing a commitment to daily personal reflection and growth.

If you are looking for a great place to begin your self-growth journey - send me an email. I have read hundreds and hundreds of books on every topic that I would be happy to recommend to you - wherever you are in your journey.

Grateful to be on this journey with you! I BELIEVE IN YOU!

Thank you for being here.

Never forget one person can make a difference…. That one person is YOU.

With so much love,

Your friend,
